Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Craggy Island?
There is much debate as to where Craggy Island REALLY is.The aerial shot at the beginning of each episode is of Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands, just off Doolin in Co. Clare. This can be visited by ferry from Doolin in Co. Clare or Rossaveal in Co. Galway.
However, none of the Father Ted locations is on the island. There were a number of good reasons for this: not least that one of the key people in the making of the series does not like boat or plane travel! No doubt another was the cost of getting gear and people out there.
Many of the outdoor locations for Father Ted, including the Parochial House are in County Clare, and these are the locations that we will visit on our tours. For a full list of Father Ted locations visited on our tour see here.
Can we dress up?
We would love you to dress up, but if luggage is tight, our tour guides will have some supplies to lend you for your photo opportunities!!
How do we get to the tour?
The tours start in Kilfenora, Co. Clare. If you are travelling within Ireland, there are buses and trains to Ennis and buses from Ennis to Kilfenora all year round.

By car, Kilfenora is about 3 hours from Dublin, 2.5 hours from Cork and 1 hour from Galway or Limerick.
The nearest airport is Shannon, in Co. Clare, about 50 minutes away. There are loads of budget flights to Shannon. Cork and Knock airports are about 2.5 hours away. Dublin airport is about 3 hours away.
